Author Kimberly Warner offers wellspring of perspective during reading from Unfixed

The Writing Program was pleased to host Kimberly Warner, author of Unfixed: A Memoir of Family, Mystery, and the Currents That Carry You Home, in conversation with moderator Julie Resnick on Friday, May 29th. Warner is one of the visiting authors for the 2026 Manzanita Writers Series that focuses on themes of Healing, Transformation & Tipping Points.

In her memoir, Warner tells her story of navigating chronic illness and delayed diagnosis in parallel to learning the man who raised her is not her biological father. She read selected excerpts from her memoir for the Hoffman audience and shared wisdom she has distilled from her journey of living with Mal de Débarquement Syndrome, a neurological disorder with no known cure that imparts a dizzying sensation of feeling constantly rocked by waves, always in the current of motion. Resnick as the evening’ moderator expertly guided conversation and asked questions that further illuminated Warner’s revelations on healing, wellness, family, and the difference between accepting one’s reality and allowing space for reality to unfold.

The evening concluded with Q&A from the audience and book signing with book sales offered on site by our local partner, Cloud & Leaf Bookstore. Copies of Unfixed are available for purchase or to order through Cloud & Leaf.

Free admission for this event was made possible through a grant from the Oregon Community Foundation.

Our next visiting author in the 2026 Manzanita Writers Series will be Justin Hocking on July 25th. Registration is available for Hocking’s hybrid memoir writing workshop and author reading through Events.
