Gyotaku is the Japanese tradition of printing a fish to record a catch.
In this hands-on workshop, youth ages 10–20 will ink a (rubber) fish and press paper onto it to capture the intricate details of its scales and fins. Participants will bring their prints to life with watercolor, adding an eye and washes of color for water, kelp, and light. Using local species like rockfish, perch, lingcod, and salmon, we’ll explore the beauty of the Pacific’s coastal waters through art.
